Services

Therapy

During your child's first 5-10 therapy sessions, a full evaluation on behavior and language is conducted by the therapist. At this time, your therapist may schedule a home or school visit to get a complete picture of your child's needs. The assessment will generate your child's individual treatment plan with specific goals and objectives for the year. We utilize the VB-MAPP by Dr. Mark Sundberg, which includes a language assessment, barriers assessment and transition assessment and the ABLLS-R by Dr. Jim Partington to guide our teaching. Once the treatment plan is created, therapy will include:

  • One-on-one instruction conducted in 1-3 hour sessions
  • Supervision by a BCBA
  • Individualized lesson plans updated on a weekly basis
  • Constant data collection that will guide all academic and behavioral decisions
  • Ongoing parent and/or staff/home therapist training
  • Progress reports every 3-4 months
  • Academics are addressed through Direct Instruction curriculums (reading, comprehension and math skills)
  • Staff will attend ARD meetings as needed

Home Program Consulting

CTAC also develops and guides your home program. After evaluating your child, we will write a report setting up individual learning and behavior objectives for the year. Once the report is completed, we will meet with you and your team of therapists to train on how to implement the treatment plan, take data and set up materials. We then meet 1-2 times per month at CTAC with your child and team to continue to train and guide your program. Home visits can also be arranged.

Evaluations

CTAC also conducts 1-3 day behavior and language assessments and trainings for families that live outside of the Austin, Texas area or are unable to attend the center for weekly services. Follow up visits are arranged on a monthly basis if needed.

  • A Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is conducted to develop a behavior treatment plan. This plan will guide families and schools on how to prevent problem behaviors from occurring, what to do when they do occur and what to teach your children to do instead of the problem behavior.
  • 1-3 day assessments which include FBA and language evaluations using the the VB-MAPP by Dr. Mark Sundberg and/or the ABLLS-R by Dr. Partington as well as training for staff and parents on how to teach and take data on targeted skills. We also offer this service to school districts in the school setting.
  • Extensive individualized reports follow each full assessment and you can video tape the evaluation to take home and review what you have learned!
  • Monthly or quarterly follow-up consults via email, video reviews or coming back to CTAC

Disclaimer: To receive a formal diagnosis parents would need to see a pediatric neurologist or refer to their pediatrician for further information.
